Disappointment. Grace. Peace. All the wiser.

I have these cards called #truthbomb, let’s just say they don’t lie and always speak a truth to me! This week’s #truthbomb was let it be easy.

Have you ever been faced with disappointment, no matter how big or small? It happens, even if your package says it’s on the way, but it’s been sitting 5 minutes from your home for a week. Disappointment happens! Guess what, we decide our own grace, lucky us! We can feel disappointment, it’s normal, but how we respond is our power.

Grace to ourselves and grace to others is our choice. Living in our disappointment only hurts us because it’s like a wound that doesn’t heal. It’s the ability to shift our mindset from I can’t believe this is happening to me, but to why is this happening and how can I respond by keeping and protecting my peace. We live in a “me” society, I can’t believe this is happening to me, don’t they care about me, what about me? As my Mom would say, “it’s not always about you.” Grace for ourselves and for others allows us to create a sense of peace.

Take time, feel the disappointment, but let it go with how you can; meditate, journal, talk, exercise, learn from it and move on. All the wiser, is what you are left with after the disappointment hits. How will you respond? Learn from it and move on. Let it be easy!

Acceptance

Acceptance seeks understanding, truth, reflection, change, empathy, patience and grace.

Acceptance can be a challenge when we may disagree with another person’s, actions, views and overall being. Acceptance allows us to seek to agree or disagree. Acceptance isn’t weak, but strength when we are forced to accept the situation for what it is and decide our truth. Truth comes from how we choose to rewrite the ending by taking action. Empathy and grace for ourselves and others allow us to step out and make a change as small as it may be. Our choices contribute to a change for the better.

Truth is when we can can’t change a situation, we can change our attitude and adjust our thinking. Adjusting our thinking to contribute to a positive change takes a great deal of patience and reflection. Getting out of our own way and not getting stuck in our feelings. The will that our way isn’t the only way, but recognizing we are better together. Together we can accept our differences and learn with a little bit of grace, compassion and empathy.

Are you down with 3PP?

If you have to ask yourself this question, chances are whatever is being put in front of you isn’t worth your energy. Ain’t nobody got time for drama, especially in a pandemic. If you are like me, this “new normal” is draining even on a good day because our routines have changed drastically. I find myself reflecting on this question a lot lately. The more we feed into negative energy, the more it manifests and disturbs our own well being. The more we give power into what’s productive, peaceful and positive the happier we’ll be. That simple, keeping it peaceful, positive and productive in this pandemic as much as I can. If it’s not part of the 3Ps, keep it moving. Are you down with 3PP, yeah you know me!:)

How many days?

I realized the other day as embrassing as it is, I have to stop and really think about how many days are in a month. Just when I remember we are on to a new month. February, February, forget it, are we in the leap year or not? Seriously, it is the little things in life that you just have to laugh at. Yes, I know there is a song and poem, but honestly, I may of been absent the day that was taught because I can’t remember that either. My Mom would joke that I was dropped as a baby on my head, maybe that’s true! I can remember a lot, but the months, forget it. I practice, but rely on my calendar. Did this ever happen to you? My favorite pizza shop closes for a week in the summer, I glanced at the date and thought, that can’t be right because it’s a Wednesday, then I thought that’s right there is 31 days in July. I even said it aloud, I started laughing and thank goodness the cashier laughed too.

My point is, laugh at yourself because you are not perfect, keep your sense of humor and be genuine because the days run short even if we forget how many there are, be grateful for them.

Did you ever think….why not?

Yesterday was a fun day of swimming with my 10 year old niece doing a lot of fun pool activities like I was a 10 year old; handstands, jumps, flips, volleyball. So fun. In the water, it’s like we can do it all, suddenly I am Olympic gymnast, not even thinking or afraid of twisting and turning. Just having fun. On the land, it’s a different story. There is something about the water, sun and kids, just being an Olympian in the pool, having fun and not making excuses; I can’t, should I, does this bathing suit fit? Just have fun and be positive even I am ok with not being a gymnast on land, I don’t want to outshine Simone Biles!

I’ll be honest, people tell me “you are so positive”. I try to be, but in my head, there are some crazy conversations going on, ” I don’t know, should I, will it work”? The answer is yes. Yes, if you make up your mind it will and you work at it. Maybe not how you thought, but for the best. Surround yourself with good people, supportive and keep your attitude genuine. Our attitude determines our success. If you keep saying you can’t, you won’t. I said that yesterday trying to get out of a wet bathing suit, I mean the only option was to walk around with my arm in the boob strap, that wasn’t happening.

I remember when I was in elementary school, my teachers would always says positive comments at conference time, but it was always “needs to work on confidence”. How do you do that? It’s not like multiplication that can be practiced. Confidence comes in time, experience and practice. Confidence comes in ignoring negative, selfish comments and believing in yourself. Embracing the moment and believing in what you are doing and aligning it with your passion and values.

As I got out the pool, closing out my Olympic routine for the day, I remembered I signed up for an hour long bootcamp class. What in the world am I thinking? I dragged myself there, did it and left feeling better. It’s not always pretty, but you too can pull yourself out of that wet bathing suit or at least get a work out trying and come through it better.
